Welcome to The 28k Project!

While Gamers for Humanity, our staff and volunteers, work diligently on our own projects throughout the year, a large part of our efforts go to encouraging the participation of gamers and non-gamers in 'civic engagement'--in the betterment of their own towns, counties, and states.

To that end, we present The 28k Project.

  • Fact: The Gen Con gamng convention draws approximately 28,000 attendees each year.
  • Fact: If each one of those attendees were to give just one hour of his or her time to work with their non-profit of choice, that would amount to over 3 years of service to our society, provided by gamers. About 3 years, 2 months, and a week...or so.

So that's our goal. Between Gen Con 2010 and Gen Con 2011, we want you to help us total 28,000 hours of volunteer work. 28,000...that seems like a lot. But if we all are working at it, no one of us has to do it all.
